BACK in June the Diary told how singing coach Ali Heath Cook was putting on an all-boxers singing contest to raise money in the Master Cutler’s Challenge.
She’s now got a date for her Sing in the Ring, next Thursday (August 7) at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Hotel.
Former world champ Johnny Nelson and a dozen other boxers, from the Brendan Ingle and Glyn Rhodes gyms, will be singing soul classics, backed by the Cornermen.
Ali, based at the Yellow Arch Recording Studios, says: “I’ve been training them for ten weeks.
“They’ve all been so enthusiastic and really thrown themselves into the challenge.
“They’ll be singing as separate camps with full harmonies, and there’ll be a couple of solos.”
